Strange behavior when waking from sleep; this is a 15-inch 2.2GHz MBP, that shipped with 10.6.7 already installed. On waking from sleep, the computer briefly turns on the external display, and by briefly I mean a fraction of a second, then cuts it off again for a couple of seconds, then turns it on properly. If the background desktop picture is a graphic, such as one of the OS X Aqua graphics, it appears corrupted in that fraction of a second; if it's an actual photo, it renders properly. Once up and running things are fine except that the computer runs noticeably warmer with the external display than the internal one despite the fact they're almost the same resolution.

Running 10.6.7 updated MBP 13" i7 - external display (MDP to DVI adapter, DVI direct to monitor) goes black on MBP sleep and never wakes. The only solution is to unplug the monitor and plug it back in for a full power cycle. The on/off button is disabled somehow and now no longer functions since first attaching the new MBP (one week ago). Tried putting a DVI extension connector in line but that didn't solve the problem. Simple fix is to never, ever, let your MBP go to sleep when plugged in. I'll next try a non-Apple MDP-DVI adapter to see if the problem resides in a faulty dongle design.

Or Apple could build a better product.

Just ran the update yesterday (14 April) and now the flicker is much worse.
Bought 2011 MacBook Pro the day it was released. Display problems began immediately, and were not fixed by 10.6.7 update.

No crashes here -- problem is display corruption. Appears in Safari, Pages and Preview. The entire window (but not the entire screen) is filled with garbage. Problem is not solved by restarting the application.

This is my third MacBook. I never had problems before.

I have a MacBookPro8,1 with MacOSX 10.6.7 (10J3250) Darwin 10.7.3

Brand new as of a few days before this comment.

2nd day, had the display glitches, ran the updates today, and now my external monitor fails to come back from power saver, even if I disconnect the external and wake the MacBook up, and then reconnect. Had to reboot to get the external display to "recover"

and the Graphics glitches are worse on the LCD and the dashboard or any overlay type graphics AKA command-tab are all distorted.

what did the update do?
increase fan speed?
increase max temp before shutting down?
driver bug?
is it only a workaround, is there a hardware defect?

come on apple at least tell us what happened here, at least Intel was straight forward on the sandy bridge defect.
