How can you patent materials you want to use. I could just as easily patent Mahogany for a computer casing as well a steel, plastic, cotton and wool and sue anyone that attempts to use anything but string to assemble their computer together.

I don't think Apple can patent a material unless it is something specific to their own design eg. a special weave.

I hope this doesn't go through, crApple should not be allowed to patent a 'manufacturing material' then sue anyone that wants to use CF as a part of their devices.
This would be like patenting GLASS....

being heavy is one reason I didn't buy one. plus it's too unwieldy to hold for more than a moment. I also don't like how the entire iPad vibrates when the speaker is being used. wassup with that? I've never seen any other small electronics vibrate so much, due to it's speaker. and...the screen isn't as bright as my little 2 y.o. netbook. damn, Apple, step up your game! Make it lighter/smaller, cameras, 1+Ghz processor, to name just a few issues.

Just to be clear, this is a patent APPLICATION and not a PATENT. The first two paragraphs above should be corrected accordingly, as there is often a world of difference between what is claimed in a patent application and what issues as a patent (applications publish, patents issue).

Just because I file a pilot license application doesnt meant you want me at the controls of the 747 you're on.
