I for one don't really care, I'm the consumer, I win either way. I don't really care about specifications or which smartphone is more "powerful". If the phone can do what I want it to do, then I'll go with that one. S2 is pretty good though, however it loses on the fact that I don't like the Android Market at its current state, which is important for me to get my apps. That's why I would choose an iPhone 5, not because of how powerful it is, but because I can do more with its apps.

Typical fanboy replies. All broad statements and accusations but no substantial facts to back them up with.

Apple's apparently fond of suing competitors which 'copies' them, so why not sue Google then? Wouldn't it be easier trying to sue a single company than multiple ones? Winning over Google would be a win against all Android handsets. But no, they simply try to stop the sales of the top three Android handset manufacturers that already sell better than they do by applying for injunctions using nothing but broad design concepts that any tablets/smartphones will also use. Why not sue the other brands if it's really about copying? Because it's not; it's simply about anti-competition.

So why doesn't Apple sue Google? Because Apple is the one copying? See http://www.zdnet.com/blog/burnette/apple-copies-a-bunch-of-features-from-android-calls-it-ios5-updated/2295 for one example. How about proper AVRCP support? Came only in iOS 4.x. How about that time when Steve yaks about not chasing specs "like Android devices" because it's "all about the experience" only to try to match specs but using similarly powered hardware in the next version that tries to match the top end Android lines?

Heck, even the old Samsung copies iPhone argument is invalid if you've seen the SGH-Z610 (the one that cleared FCC in August 2006, not the F700 that Apple fans like to cite as coming later. That's just misinformation) that came prior to the original iPhone. Now tell me where iPhone got their iconic round button from again? And doesn't that prove that the current Galaxy S series is simply following a design that preceded the iPhone by at least half a year?

Failure is not improving on a 3 year old phone design.

Apple has made no interesting moves forward since the first iphone3. And now all their UI improvements and software changes are based on pre-existing android software.

I'm guessing whoever REALLY designed the iphone3 has died.

That would pretty much sum up Apples failure to improve on it since.

Interesting that you brought up Eric Schmidt's involvement in Apple...

Apple saw its rise in popularity and had it's heyday with Schmidt on board, but now that Schmidt's left Apple and stays only with Google, Google's overtaking Apple more and more each day, and at a very rapid pace no less.

Doesn't this suggest that it was Schmidt's presence that brought success to Apple and that Apple owes its success to a "Google Guy" rather than the other way around? Talk about irony.

Funny.

If there had been no iPhone, it's frightening what Android would look like.

Did you ever see what Android looked like pre iPhone?

Wonder where Giigle got their inspiration from?

Oh yeah, Eric Schmdt use to be on Apples board of directors during that time!

Amazing coincidence!
