to many people complaining about a feature they don’t use, the 3D view is not the biggest deal. people tend to put apple on the spot every time a mistake is made and make a big deal out of it. same thing with the iphone 4 antenna problem unless you used your hand and intentionally covered that part i never had any problems with service in the 2 years i used the iphone 4.

i can live with a bad map for a few weeks until they prefect it. if you cant deal with it just use google maps via safari.

Apple Maps is not the only update to iOS 6 and the iPhone 5. There have been a number of mixed reviews; some people have reported using Apple Maps with no problem.

To be quite honest, the iPhone 5′s user experience can not be reduced to overanalyzing the merits of one sole app. Personally, I cancelled my contract with Verizon a few months ago, and I have a straight talk phone to do my talking now. However, I still have my iPhone 4, which of course can’t take advatage of the full extent of Apple’s map because I don’t have 3g. According to this article, Apple was looking out for the best interest of its customers. When Google probably comes out with its app the later part of this year, apparently we can all rest assured that it will have turn by turn directions, which will be a win for the customer. This might have not happened if Apple didn’t try to give us consumers a better user experience.

Furthermore, this title is very misleading. Apple and Tom Tom have both said the Tom Tom’s data is not the issue.

Call me a iFan if you want, but this isn’t such a big issue for the general, non techie blog readers, which is contrary to what slashgear and other media outlets would lead us to believe.

If anyone else did something like that there would be so much backlash it’s not funny.. but Apple says to forgive them for crap data.. and because it’s the Techerati’s favourite it’s OK ? WTF. Time to realise that Apple is just a money hungry company now (and getting worse the more it makes). Everyone, give other options a fair go I say.. Windows Phone (and soon the Windows 8/RT tablets) as well as the Assorted android flavoured phones and Tablets

Why is everyone complaining about the maps on OS6? Apple tested it in Capertino and it pin pointed the Apple address and Steve Jobs house exactly where they should be. You can not use it to get to San Francisco from there but who wants to go to San Francisco anyway? Now we have Map Gate. What is next?

By the way, don’t use the Iphone 5 on Verizon because you can not use data and the phone at the same time. Does anyone remember the dunce making reservations while assuring his spouse on the phone that he had not forgotten their anniversary? Maybe Samsung should use that commercial now and make a new one asking where the Statue of Liberty is? Will Apple sue Google because their map system works?

iOS 6 maps is crowd sourced. I’m from Malaysia so the maps have even less information yet today alone I already found more locations than just 24 hours before. Looks like iOS 6 users are already starting to contribute, which will improve Apple maps really quickly.

Apple sue Samsung for copying their phones. They’re trying to get the S3 taken off the shelves because it copied the iPhone. They then release ‘the next big thing’; the key points of which seem to be bigger widescreen display (like the S3), smaller dock connector (like the S3), turn by turn GPS (like the S3), a reject call with text function (like the S3). They’re taking the piss. I hope Samsung take them down over the LTE patents.

Apple are presumably getting ready to sue google for copying their maps function. Maybe they’ll sue Samsung for their reject call with text thing as well.

“Just getting started” doesn’t send out reassuring signals that this app is going to be functioning properly…..any time soon. It’s fine to beta a product. But Apple should have left Google Maps in place until they had their product up to speed. Especially with a major core function like maps.

Sure they can improve it – up is the only direction to go from rock bottom.

It shows that Apple cares more about their “thermonuclear war” against Android than they do their actual customers and their “experience” that their users always tout as ‘the reason’ they are using iPhones rather than more modern smartphones.

And, ironically, it may just drive many people TO Android – where Google Maps, and Google Maps Navigation – are not only great, but free, and included in fact. As they’ve always been.

Bad move, Apple. You don’t remove a product that works really well and replace it with something of compromised functionality that’s not ready for prime time. That’s not the way to make customers happy.

Thanks to Slashgear and Huffpost for Headlining what other site like ArsTech have not. I will wait for a real update. However, I will soon be leaving the iPhone and its aging iOS for a Nokia Lumia 920. Hang the millions of Apps I’ll never use: give me Nokia maps. My wife has a Nokia Lumia 900 and the default Maps including the times of Metro and Bus services, are superior to Google, wipe the floor with Apple’s own amateur attempts.

I thought it was Google that released beta versions and improved over time. Apple’s supposed to be the “release when ready” company here. Moreover, Apple have been working on this for a year and half the cities I’ve accessed look like some sort of surrealist oil painting.
