Most of the major IOS 5 upgrades are copying android to keep up. Pull down notifications, wifi sync, icloud, etc. The new iphone 5 will have dual core processor and maybe NFC,LTE? They are increasing the screen size to 4 inches? All of these are existing android features months or years old already. Who is copying who and trying to play catch up?Should be a really nice phone and will definitely sell well. If there is not some major surprise or breakthrough it will be a let down and another 14 months to wait until the next iphone. I am hoping for something spectacularly innovative or something new no one has even talked about yet. We will see....

So Apple are fine because Jobs has left a strong impression? How exactly do you run a company whose executives stop before every important decision and ask WWJD?

I have a 13" macbook pro, just got it. The reason I didn't get another
"wintel" laptop is because they are all crappily made. I bought the
macbook pro because of build quality and the use quality.

Um why would anybody in there right mind think that Apple is in trouble in the short-term? I could not agree more that their is zero reason to the think that Apple will have any issues in the short term. Pretty much everything being prepared to launch should go just as well as the previous major launch of any of the given products you mentioned.

For the long term, I think they will only really begin to drift off course after Jony Ive leaves. Who knows when that will happen. If you could simply learn how to be Jobs and Ive, it would be quite a different landscape right now. I don't care who worked with them or under them, nobody can be them. Just Ask Microsoft.
