There will be no fix for this problem cause its specs are weird dual core chip and some powerfull gpu ..hsdpa (not even hsdpa+) all that takes power and in the end apple decided to put in a 1430 mah battery not even li ion. What were they thinking ..when ever u buy a smartphone pls check the battery capacity.. 1600+ is necessary to go a full day with Normal use is on hsdpa ..on sgs2 1650 will take u full day with slightly above normal use however a 2000 mah battery is also available and adds almost no thickness to the phone ..seriously AMAZING <3

Mophie juice packs or battery case. either of them will do, and its made just for iPhone. No need for a spare battery. Sorry to burst that bubble.

I got 4S yesterday and spent almost all night donwloading software(mostly synths) and played them for hours. I was impressed, how long it could go on. I fell a sleep much sooner, than iPhone, and when I woke up, it still had enough power to stay up until lunch.

Apple users aren’t vocal at all. There was a study release just recently I believe it was for Consumer Reports.

Even when a BLATANT issue arises with an Apple owner’s hardware, that is no fault of their own (even if it has happened multiple times) they have the lowest instance of all the other brand consumers of blaming the company.

ps I had icloud turned off too and that didnt matter until I went to the specific setting for documents and data and specifically turned that off (even though it should not have mattered since icloud was off right? wrong!). if I turn it back on (just the documents and data, bam goes the CPU and the battery). ymmv but it definitely seems like a software problem and not a hardware one. gone all day with a full green battery, talked on the phone, etc. I think I can go a couple days now without a charge.

3d geek with an iPad…

I hate just about everything about this thing.. except it IS an excellent 3d camcorder. (Piss poor point and shoot though..)

Battery life is sad… 4 hours tops (but I USE it..its not just sitting in my pocket)

As soon as possible this will be retired as a phone and replaced with 64gb iphone 4s. I’ll still use it as a WiFi connected 3d camcorder… I would keep it as a phone, but Google set an.arbitrary 3g upload limit of 150mb for 3g… Anything over 3min 50 seconds requires WiFi..so I could upload 3min chunks all day but not one 5 min..

Unfortunately no one on android has found a work around for this.. on iphones a simple jailbreak app fools the phone into thinking 3g is WiFi.

Not.. apple users are extremely vocal when issues arise.. compare apple forums to HTC forums… You’ll note the greatest difference is that the apple forum has SOLUTIONS.

Only an android fanboy would accept poor battery life with statements like “welcome to dual core” and “just buy a spare battery”

I just figured out the problem on my iphone4s. I installed an activity monitor and saw that, not doing anything, my iphone was using 70% CPU steady. I kept trying to turn things on and off when I went to settings, icloud, documents & data, and turned it off. CPU dropped to 1% steady. battery problem solved. I still have everything else on, like location services, push notificaitons etc (its none of those things).

Hopefully it’s something software can fix. My sister’s iPhone 4 gets about 2 more hours of screen-on usage time than I’ve been getting with my 4S. I upgraded from the Fascinate, and battery was one of the reasons, but there has been effectively no improvement.

Yea its unfortunate that some people are having problems. I’ve had my 4S on since yesterday morning (its 2pm here now), with push notifications, location services and moderate use (web/youtube/calls/etc.) and I’m @ 33% now, pretty solid if you ask me.

I’ve had no battery problems what-so-ever. I ran my 4s for 13 hours yesterday. Playing online games, streaming movies and music and having apps run all day in the background. Sucks that others arent experiencing the same thing.

PS, 4-5 MILLION devices all at once… The effected number seems to be about .1% that’s margin for battery failure..

An FYI if your iphone or any device all of the sudden gets very warm while charging and battery life is reduced, stop using and replace immediately. It could be a fire hazard, or might crack your screen of it off-gasses.
