Its sad but probably best to license and move along. Its not a question of “do you really infringe” as much as it is “Do you really want to spend so much in the courtroom and being harassed non stop?”

Apple has already proven they’re willing to set their money on fire for these lawsuits even without real results, so it isn’t even a question on what they would do if you don’t license up.

Yes google isn’t have codes like MS or money like apple but it smartest company ever, google will pass ,I heard that they work on redesign “virtual button,look screen and more” fight google make it found a good idea better than apple has and goes to 70′s 80′s when IBM make apple worth 0 I think google will make that and one forever

Apple’s patent fights were not doing Apple any good. It was all about ego. That is not a good basis for business decisions. Reaching a licensing agreement is a way of forcing competitors to acknowledge what they have borrowed, and improve Apple’s position, but not waste so much time and money on a futile war.

Of course there is the second question about whether agreement can be reached on the terms….

I hope Google and Motorola fight this tooth-and-nail, especially considering how much Apple has ripped off from others in OS X and iOS. This whole patent mess is insane.

I think the way we think about IP is backwards and incompatible with both our past and our future. Generally speaking, all new ideas end up proliferating and benefitting all humanity over time. All the patent system does is slow that process down. Would Steve Jobs have been unable to invent the iPhone if he lived in China? I don’t think so, he just would have made less money off it.

Still ridiculous. If Google put all its effort into filing patents instead of developing features such as widgets, unified notifications, 4g, dual and quad core support, etc, etc, they would be better equipped to shove Apple back in this crazy patent war. They haven’t, so even as iOS borrows features one by one from Android, it (Apple) seems to be making slow but steady progress in several of its many lawsuits against Android OEMs.

Many (not all) Apple fans either applaud this behavior (Go Apple! You take them thieves down!) or don’t care, even though competition is the greatest impetus for innovation. And when people bring up the fact that Apple copies just like everybody else, Apple fans accuse them of having a double standard. *SIGH*
