Apple CarPlay expands with 9 new partners

Apple's automotive bid with CarPlay has just expanded with a handful of new high-powered partners. CarPlay partners have already joined the team earlier this year, this list just expanding on an already strong selection of creators. Alfa Romero, Abarth, Audi, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep, Mazda, and RAM have all been announced to join the crew.

This iOS-based system has been demonstrated by several car companies over the past few months, having first been shown by Apple at WWDC 2013. At that developers conference, the system was joined first by partners like Nissan, KIA, Volvo, and Hundai. The system was not yet called CarPlay at that point.

Apple's CarPlay system also includes Jaguar, Mercedes, Ferrari, Opel, Alfa Romeo, BMW, and more. Apple suggests that the 2014 lineup of CarPlay-integrated cars includes Ferrari, Honda, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz, and Volvo. Audi has pinned their first CarPlay car for 2015 in Europe and 2016 for USA-based showrooms.

Above you'll see a demonstration of CarPlay in action on the 2015 Huyndai Sonata. Have a peek at our first drive of this vehicle released just this week!
