Apple *is* being deceitful in their advertising. Perhaps they should be fined by the state for that. I don’t see why these people involved in the class action deserve anything more than a partial refund for their iPhones if anything. So like $20 and call it a day? Just pay them off, Apple. Your douchey side is showing again.

The same AD is on in Australia stating that siri is a personal assistant that does everything. That’s why they have a class action against them. They were also taken to court for false advertisement about the 4g that doesn’t work here

All of the commercial showing “magical” Siri were targeted for US audiences. Apple never claimed for Siri to work properly outside the US. Thus “Beta” which tech software and hardware companies do all the time. If you don’t like it then simply buy an Android which many claim has better voice recognition.

people in california are complaining because most of california is full of nanny state whiners that want to go crying to a lawyer every time something doesn’t go their way.

I have many friends that purchased an iPhone 4S and while Siri doesn’t always respond 100% to everything, it has performed quite admirably. Plus Apple didn’t hesitate to note that it’s still beta, and not perfect.

Perhaps we should be raking Google over the coals because they leave crap in “beta” for YEARS.

Its simple Apple. Don’t bring out a feature and then call it magical when it is in fact a second rate iteration of the oppositions feature. Siri is almost totally useless in any other country than America. Personal assistant, Ha, what a joke. It can’t even find the nearest Apple store. Your fired.

I don’t recall what the advert’s were like for siri as i had no interest in the phone myself but those i know who have a 4s and live outside the US are very disappointed. While i think some of them were aware of the fact that many of siri’s functions don’t work unless you live in the US, none of them thought it was going to be as crippled as it turned out to be. Some even prefered it as a stand alone app before Apple bought it as it just understood you better. If people in california are complaining, i can only imagine how the rest of the world must feel about it.

Frankly speaking, today’s patent infringement is a laughing stock, company make use of these “patents” to sue each other in order to monopolize the market.

Suing HTC for infringement of “data tapping”. There is no hardware involvement. Software wise, everyone can write programs to produce the same function with different language. What is the patent involvement?Today, in order to win patent infringement cases , as long as slick lawyers able to argue his way to win the court, that company will win. That is the crux of current day “patent infringement”. The days of law that is won through “reasonable man thinking” is thrown out of the windows, fast becoming a thing of past.The Siri class action suit is just a taste of Apple’s own medicine.

Both my parents (63 and 70) use Siri to their delight.

Maybe these complainers are mush mouthed.

I did a side by side with my 3devo and android was better at phrases but not at single words.

Example, android could pick up “wrong diagnosis” but heard “diagnosis” as “diagnostics”

I have used Siri and the Voice Actions commands of Android and Windows Phones. Repeatedly, I have found Siri to be less accurate (and in some cases far less accurate) than that of Android and Windows Phones.

From my observation, Apple “pushes” Siri as this “halo”, “magical”, feature on their phone, BUT if something goes wrong, doesn’t work, It’s still in beta. Basically pushing it as a finished product, but then if it doesn’t work as advertised, it’s because it’s still in beta and not a “finished” product.

You can’t have both. you EITHER push it as a unfinished, beta product (which in some cases looks bad, but in reality can be quite meaningless) OR you push it as a finished, polished product (that is “horrible”).

What’s the connection? The class action suit is a grievance that a product didn’t meet expectations, not a claim of patent infringement. It’s like saying that your neighbor’s complaint that that you play your music too loud is equivalent to your complaint that he built his fence on your side of the property line.
