Apple will not be giving up on the MacBook Air just yet, they have announced the new the Air to be released late November. The Air will be coming as standard with a 120GB HDD together with the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M video card, mini Display Port and 2GB of RAM. There will also be the option of a 128GB SSD.

It seems Apple has not lowered the price of the MacBook Air. The prices will be $1799 for the MacBook Air with 1.6GHz Core 2 Duo processor, and $2499 for the Macbook Air with a 1.86GHz CPU and 128Gb SSD.
This is a worthy upgrade to the Air without marking up the price. This still begs the question as to whether the problems users were having with the first MacBook Air will be resolved. It seems with the MacBook Pro being so thin there is a lot less of a difference between the two.

I really wonder which 128 GB SSD they are using in the new MacBooks (Normal, Air and Pro).
Especially the performance (read/write).
I believe they are using STEC MACH8 drives. See http://blogs.barrons.com/techt.....drive-biz/ . STEC is the industry leader for high performance SSD applications. http://www.stec-inc.com/product/mach8.php . The drive has a read/write speed of 100MB/s.
A professional writer that doesn’t know the difference between weather and whether… Once again, the problem of depending of spellcheck revealed.
Actually, the only 1.8″ STEC drive with 128GB capacity has 90MB/60MB read/write performance (this is from the page “g” has pointed to), so I guess that’s the real answer…
HI THERE THE NEW MAC BOOK AND MAC BOOK PRO HAVE FASTER 128 GB SSD DRIVES 200 MB/S READ AND 160 MB/S WRITE SPEED.
Good catch Igor. Yes, the MLC version of the MACH 8 1.8″ has a read/write speed of 90/60 MB/s. I was looking at the 1.8″ SLC drive’s performance, which as you might expect is significantly better.
