Just goes to show how screwy patent law is anymore.. I am going to patent writing the letter A in English and then prevent anyone from using the letter A without paying me a royalty, if you write it in any other language you are ok. This is basically the patents that all these companies have. They are no longer patenting innovations, just random ideas which they don't even have to put down on paper and have been used for years without any copy-write or patents locking them down.

everything is documented and dated. Style, form factor (yes thin is in), and marketing strategy should be left out of the discussion. Samsung clearly pattens its marketing as sleeker and sexier than Apple, and it has benefited them. ultimately, it will cime down to who came to market first, who paid and owns what payents, and the jury determining if Samsung or Apple saw what he other was doing and followed suit with slightly differentiated approach. time stamped documents and email is evidence enough. hopefully the technical work arounds are discarded or this will never end.

I would have agreed that Samsung could be a major rival for Apple if it wasn't for the ICS fiasco.
I can't believe their cockiness when Google released ICS over 7 months ago & the AT&T & T-Mobile GS2 has yet to be updated, or a possible release date even mentioned. Regardless of how many less different versions of the iPhone Apple has to support if Samsung doesn't get this under control the avg Joe will become more aware of this issue & think twice about buying another one of their phones. I know I've decided not to risk going through this again, when Google releases Jelly Bean this fall, & have decided to not buy another one of their phones.
