Anyone that uses a laptop outside (outside, what’s that?) knows that the sun can really make your screen difficult to read. Now NEC has a new LCD that is readable on the sunniest of days.

The super-transmissive natural light TFT technology will allow the user to see vivid colors in “environments with high ambient light.”

Don’t get too excited yet, the resolution for the panels only range from 640 x 480 to 1024 x 768. Currently, the technology is only aimed at kiosks, not laptops. It is likely, however, that we will see it in laptops in the future.
