Another Tablet PC Convert

Worth Reading?

NoYes

As something of a Tablet PC disciple, I love reading about other people’s conversions to the technology.  Long the teased footnote in Bill Gates’ biography, a whole lot of people initially sceptical of pen-computing are brought round by the intuitiveness of the interface.  Jerry Raia over at Gear Diary has had his own Tablet epiphany recently, courtesy of a Fujitsu T4125 convertible, and takes the time to write (or should that be jot?) down some thoughts.

“If you have thought about a Tablet PC but, like me, didn’t think you needed one, think again. I haven’t had this much fun with a new laptop in a long time. Being able to write on the screen is truly amazing. It personalizes the experience of using a computer in a way I would not have imagined. It also personalizes your communication by bringing back your own hand – something that was lost when we dove into the land of email and typed messages”

What always intrigues me is what aspect of Tablet interaction most appeals to new users.  In Jerry’s case it seems to be the personalisation – handwritten emails, taking notes coupled with your own scribbles, abbreviations and diagrams – whereas others just find it far more convenient and less of a paradigm shift to return to pen from mouse.

I’m certainly looking forward to reading more impressions, Jerry!
