Just like citizens who bitch about the police because they themselves are involved in illegal activity, public officials who are NOT involved in illegal behavior have nothing to worry about!

What Lulz did is illegal, yes, but any negative fallout will be the result of police wrongdoing. All of that information is already subject to public disclosure, save for social security information. But witnesses, victims and defendant information is made public and has to be so because of the 5th, 6th and 14th Amendments.

Why would they do that if the person did nothing wrong or illegal?
Why did Hitler murder 6 million Jews and why did so many choose to not see what was happening?

There may be 100 reasons, not one of which is a good reason.  Mental illness, personal gain, insecurity, impulse anger, self-loathing, jealousy, sadism, narcissistic personality disorder, mistake of fact, rush to judgment, power challenged, showing whose boss, showing whose the bigger man with females present, antisocial personality disorder, retribution for insult, career advancement, doesn’t like you because ___, he can fo the rest of his shift doing the report, pressure for arrest from above, increase department income, federal inmate subsidies, competition for affection from a mutual interest,…………

If they were legitimately concerned about the state of affairs as it is at the moment then they would pursue legitimate paths. The Robin Hood excuse does not cut it, nor absolve them of being criminals and cowards at best. Everyone waves a merry flag and hurrah’s at their actions so long as it doesn’t upset their lives. How quick would you be to hurrah if the release of that information caused your friend to be exposed as a police informant, helping police catch real criminals, and they were murdered for it?

If we all went around committing crimes to solve crimes then very quickly this world would become a much worse place to live. 

And I agree, usually these types of debate fall to the level of “sez u dik head, go suk a dik!” and I’m glad that hasn’t happened here.

And sir, we have been disagreeing for an hour or so, and neither has resorted to personal or prejudicial attacks!!  Bravo, its been a while since I’ve experienced decency!  This is what the world needs more!  Is intelligent and level headed discussion, I can’t tell you how many of my own friends can’t even converse about politics as they are not firm on their beliefs and therefore resort to attacking rather then defending.

Killing someone because they were trying to kill you is not Justice in my eyes, it’s tragedy and all that could ever come of it is pain.

Don’t get me wrong here, I am not some hippy pacifist. I just think that it is not right to answer evil with evil. Thus hacking (breaking the law) to uncover people breaking the law, is not right and will never achieve anything.

A cop and his gang.
A meth cook and his family.
In N.O., the cops drop by the hood on fridays to pick up their cut, so for N.O. residents, you should probably add:
A cop that takes kickbacks from a meth cook
A meth cook and his cop gang
A cop that cooks meth with his family

Oh, one more thing.  Would the meth cook be heavily armed and dislike me for no reason also? 

Being charged in a state court, will not stop you from getting charged with federal crimes.  Same logic applies here.  If justice was dealt by a fellow citizen, it in no way stops the higher power from also pursuing justice in the eyes of the law

And lets say that you do stop him without killing him, if you’ve already served up some ‘good ol justice’ as you put it; why does he then still get arrested and sent to prison?

I would say both cases were administering the law.  They do not have to be convicted in a court in order for justice to be served.  If they broke the law by trying to hurt me, and I stop them from doing that.  Well, i sir, served up some good ol justice.
