what i meant was actually 3.0 (as Blundell said ) beacuse it’sintended for tablets.

Might be but rememeber that Samsung is one company who does not belive in customer service after purchase – once they stop selling the model they quit updates even if device is superior to neewer ones (vide Galaxy i5700). Still galaxy tab just reached the maket so they’ll update to 2.3 and end it there

I assume this is all informed guess work, from what I’ve read so far it looks about right. Still queries over the Galaxy S and if this will be unveiled same time as 2.3.

to the comment above, I would don’t the Tab would get 2.3 as it won’t be anything they need. It is more likely samsung will wait for 3.0 to update their tab’s as this IS the OS designed for Tablet devices. I’ll put my money where my mouth and say February for 3.0 :-p

It all depends on Samsung, basically. Google makes Gingerbread available to OEMs, and then it’s up to them to make whatever changes they or their devices require and then push out the new software updates. Samsung has previously said it intends to release Gingerbread for the Galaxy Tab, but the timescale depends on how long it takes them to get the custom UI/apps working with the new OS.
