Interestingly, the backing data that we used for these charts also contained released dates for each device. Most are still within 18 months of release and many are still being sold by the carriers. Perhaps, I will make available the full backing dataset.

Another thing to consider is that the service providers also slow updates down, dragging their heels when it comes to adding their bloatware.

exactly. There are some old devices out there that are just NOT going to get gingerbread or even froyo (Eris for one). This was a pledge MOSTLY for future devices. Meaning, you buy a device from here on out, you’ll be updated for 18 months (basically a promise for 2 or 3 OS upgrades)

This article shows the number of devices running version number. What we need is the release dates of the devices mapped to current OS. A simple table for each manufacturer-carrier which has device launch date and current OS would have been enough !!!

,,wow,., I just got a $829.99 iPad2 for only $103.37 and my mom got a $1499.99 HDTV for only $251.92, they are both coming with USPS tomorrow. I would be an idiot to ever pay full retail prîces at places like Walmart or Bestbuy. I sold a 37" HDTV to my boss for $600 that I only paid $78.24 for. I use EgoWîn.com
