Well if they want to guarantee that a product is safe they are putting on there site, yes they will hire people. Price of business. If these problems keep occurring, Android could see is fall in the future. Think if you were to have a business that sold potentially harmful products to your computer, phone, etc. You would not be around very long.

I am researching moving from and iPhone to an Android, but hearing about the malware has raised some eyebrows. If the apps with malware are coming from the Android Market, then Google needs to Police what they accept. If a developer want to submit an app for people to purchase or download for free, they should have to submit the app to Google for testing. Google take the app, loads it on to some test Androids (5-7) and test the app out. Also have a team the analyzes the source code to ensure it is clean. This includes any updates for apps already on the market. If an app is found to have problems, Google send the app back to the developer to fix it. If the app is found to have a virus or malware of any kind, the developer is ban'd from providing apps. Amazon should do the same (I think I heard they do, not sure). One of the things I like about the Android is that people can customize it more freely, and it is easier to develop apps for the Android phones. Now if someone gets an app from some unknown site on the internet, well you get what you get. If the problem is coming from apps from Android Market or Amazon, then Google and Amazon need to do better policing.

I have said this many, many times before. Google start curating your own market!!

It does not matter if you are smart enough to avoid these types of apps, or not.
The whole point is Consumer Confidence in your product.

The threat of malware is the number one reason I hear when people talk about Android; and I hear it a lot.

Whether this is true or not, you have to take away the perception, lest it become fact in so many eyes.

Your arguement doesnt hold water. Even if it was harder to write for they would still write there malware for the system with 90% market share over the one with ten. Its nit about fun and ease its about stealing money from people. When only a small number of users on any system are dumb enough to fall for your scam you as many people to see it as possible. It has nothing to do with whats easier.

Your argument does not hold water. The fact is that it is much harder to write Malware for iOS, I am not saying you can't do it just that it is harder to do. Remember coders are lazy, path of least resistance. Android has less resistance this easier to slip in Malware.
Android is great, and it is wonderful to have lots of flexibility, and malware may be the price an Android user is willing to pay.

You should check yourself before you post. Android is selling more today than iOS, but the installed base is still much larger for iOS. Yet there are no malware out there for iOS, and every week we hear about another batch of malware for Android. Of course you don't hear about malware on the Amazon App Store, which is a walled garden, similar to the Apple iOS App Store. Go figure! Looks like the walled garden really works. Time for Google to start rethinking strategy, else they will end up being mocked just like Microsoft is for Windows.

Oh wow, there's a great argument. Mac users have been hearing that for years from the Windows crowd.

No matter how you look at it, this disrupts the "free and open" main selling point Android users tout as their biggest draw; either you have to admit the devs have the power to limit your choices to ones they feel are safe (just as Apple has done from the beginning), or you have to admit that your app market is unsafe. Either way, score one for iOS.
