"That doesnt make it the right choice."

It doesn't make it the wrong choice either, though. Having handled both a 4:3 iPad and a 16:10 archos 101, I must say that the iPad's form factor wins hands down.

Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely in the market for an Android tablet once Honeycomb is out. I'd just prefer if there were a few reasonable choices with 4:3 ratio out there.

I cannot imagine that Google would screw all the companies that created Android tablets in reliance on the promise of a tablet OS. It would be crazy, methinks, for Google to abandon the tablet makers who first embraced the OS.

This being said, if Google DOES screw Samsung, Notion Ink, etc., Cyanogen is gonna fix the Honeycomb OS so that it'll work on the "screwees" devices.

Hardware requirements are possible, depending on the real nature of Honeycomb. If it will be just for tablets (like iOS 3.2 for iPad) it might have these long rumored requirements of a minimum resolution - which might be 1280x720, but just as well less. Don´t forget that Samsung is involved into all this (being a member of the Open Handset Alliance) and consider the likelihood that they would have released the Galaxy Tab the way they did if this was true.

If Honeycomb isn´t tablet only, there still might be some requirements, like a certain amount of RAM (256MB? 512MB?), or maybe an ARMv7 SoC (required for flash, anyway). Let´s just wait and see.

Dual Core + 16:9 high resolution (at 10 inch) as a requirement just sounds ridiculous to me.

The dual-core requirement, I'm inclined to believe. There's plenty of dual-cores coming soon, and Honeycomb is probably on the path to becoming bloatware that will eventually need them. The minimum resolution being set at 1280x720 is a bit weirder, mostly because it implies a set 16:9 aspect ratio. The iPaid succeeded with a 4:3 ratio - will this mean there will never be a Honeycomb tablet the same size and shape as the most-successful-so-far tablet? And these restrictions rule out most of the tablets announced for CES? It's extremely hard to believe. I like the idea of them pushing for higher resolutions on android devices, but they couldn't shoot themselves in the foot this blatantly, could they?
Then again, bring on the mythical Tegra dual-core 7inch(1366x768)PixelQi Honeycomb Tablet, STAT!! I need it like, yesterday.

It seems like a really strange rumour, especially considering we're talking about a very open system here and anybody could just make a version with the limitations taken out. It would also mean a split in Android versions, because obviously Honeycomb would not work on mobile phones either. So would we get an Android for Mobile Phones and an Android for Tablets?
A far more realistic option would be that some tablet-specific features will be disabled (by default) because they were desinged with those minimal hardware specs in mind. Installing Honeycomb on an earlier tablet would than basically make it a very big phone.

Except for the tablets like the Viewsonic G-Tablet, eLocity A7, Advent Vega, Toshiba Folio that already have Tegra 2 Cortex-A9 Dual Core processors in them.. So it certainly does leave "all" the tablets out of an upgrade..
