Not that bad... my phones are currently totally unlocked because unlocking tens of times a day is a pain, so any security would be a huge improvement ^^

For those that need real securty on their phone, pin and patern unlock is still available. For those, like me, that merely want to prevent a large phone bill in case you loose the phone face regonition would be sufficient.

Why would Google give Verizon an exclusive on the Galaxy Nexus when they already have an array of super phones...just to name a few like the HTC Rezound, the Moto RAZR, Droid Bionic, the iPhone 4S, and now the Galaxy Nexus. Ofcuz those who are interested in Verizon as a carrier will have quite a few choices on high end phones...that may equals less Nexus handsets sold due to divided attention. I hope that exclusivity last just a few weeks. Google should remember the holiday season is fast approaching and customers on the other Networks have some cash to spend on their respective carriers and most will not leave their Networks to chase a device on Verizon. They want the Galaxy Nexus on their respective Networks..the goal for Google and Samsung is to sell as many units as possible...you will get that goal with this phone on multiple Networks. And please price this device reasonably...we don't want another HP like scenario..a nice device highly priced and not enuf units moved. Why do u think Apple decided to spread their wings and have the iPhone on multiple carriers...the goal is to move as many units as possible

Thing is, that if the hacker knows who he's taking the device from that person is already screwed. Remote wipe, find my phone, hardware encryption(with local keys) or password protected logins are useless against a targeted attack with physical access.

I can see in the future your phone will need multiple biometric security checks, because showing a face photo to unlock your phone is not security at all. (A hacker can open up your facebook page and have their pick of face images.) Scanning your face along with a thumprint scan and voice recognition sounds a little more secure. If it was in the movie Gattaca we'd also have a finger prick and blood/DNA test every time you want to use your phone (note to phone engineers, most consumers don't want to give blood to access their phone).

On another page I saw a comment that stated people should be able to open their phones by saying their passcode. This is not secure unless your phone can distinguish between your voice and other voices, because once you say your code everyone around you will know it.

I know that on a toshiba laptop they have this same type of feature for facial recognition. On the Toshiba you have to look at the camera and then look off to the side for it to unlock. I assume it does this so that you cant just put a picture in front of it. You actually have to have your face (or i guess that a 3D replica of your head could work too) for it to unlock. I assume that it track multiple points on your face as you rotate your head to make sure that it is just not a picture.

Yeah, just gonna get the people who want something to show off lol This is kind of like a futuristic feel, so some people think it's awesome. Seems much quicker to just type a PIN or something

I had read that if the face recognition doesn't work, you can still unlock the device by using the slider. As a result, I'm not sure if fooling it with a photo really matters. At the end of the day, it's a cool gimmick, but not a real security measure.
