Android 6.0 Marshmallow lands for Xperia Z5, Z4 tablet, and Z3+

Sony has announced something that fans of the Xperia line of smartphones and tablets will be glad to hear. Android 6.0 Marshmallow is now available for several of the devices that wear the Xperia name including the Z5, Z4 tablet, and Z3+. The update to Android 6.0 is offered for the global versions of all three devices and when they first launched Lollipop was the OS right out of the box.

Owners of the Z5 compact and Z5 Premium can download the latest update. The Marshmallow release for the Xperia devices does have the February security patches from Google baked in, the newest home launcher, improved battery management, Doze mode, and app data permissions. Owners of the devices should get OTA notifications soon to start the update.

Sony also put together a nice little video to show owners of the devices what they can expect to find in the form of new features once their update is made. After upgrading, the user gains the ability to give permission to apps. The camera gains the ability to adjust images in real-time and the ability to swipe to change shooting modes.

After the shot is made, Marshmallow makes it easier to share the image with others. Lots of new stickers are available to dress up your images and editing text is easier. Lots of other updates and features are included with Marshmallow with things like Android Backup, a new USB connection UI, and introduction of Xperia v.2, swipe to search app, improved movie creator, new voice assist, WiFi calling and more. Check out the video below to see the details of the update.
