I'm not sure your privacy is important to either Apple or Microsoft either. They've both done questionable things. As has Facebook, and many other big tech companies who we allow to gather information about us.

When it comes down to it, a 2 month wait to get ICS onto my tablet wasn't a big deal, and it made a SUBSTANTIAL performance improvement.

I may be mistaken, but Google's not really changed its views on privacy all that much over the years. While they may have been something people balked at back then and also now, I don't think there's a receding trend in that arena for them. I only mention this because you throw it in there at the end of your comment as something which bothers you, but you've been an Android user for what, something like four years now and that's always been maligned as the less secure OS from the company which mines personal data, versus protecting it....

The problem is most people haven't even heard of gingerbread, froyo, eclair, or donut. They don't care about updates and just care if they can make phone calls, text, and download apps. That's it. The people that do know about ICS and care about updates should be rooting and unlocking their phones anyways. It's not hard to do in most instances. But yes, ICS has been a big set back because it's a huge change in android and especially in the kernel. They could've done this update better, but why the hell should that stop Google from innovating and upgrading. You want google to actually slow down with their innovation? I think they should innovate as fast as they can and just improve how quickly those updates can get to people.

Every day I lose more and more trust and faith in Google. Most people haven't even heard of, let alone experience ICS and there are now rumors of what will replace it? I've been an android user since day 1, I had a G1 in my hands before most people did. Now this looks like a circus where it's all chaos. Version after version, soon they'll run out of excuses to justify such fragmentation. Never before has iOS or the news of Windows 8 (mobile) seemed like an attractive alternative to a company that also seems to think your privacy is something not important.
