Android 4.0 coming in late April for Sony Tablet P/S

We recently put up a review of the Sony Tablet P and lamented that Honeycomb needed to be ditched in favor of Ice Cream Sandwich. Sony has announced that next month owners of its Tablet S and Tablet P will be getting the update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The update has been confirmed for Japan, but it's not clear if other countries will also get the update.

The update will bring the ability to take photos from lock screen and the ability to take panoramic pictures. A new app called Recopla will be included with the update, allowing users to view digitally recorded TV programs from the company's Blu-ray recorders. The update enhances the Small Apps feature letting users multitask with more efficiency.

Sony has a Wi-Fi only version of the Tablet P that's due to hit Japan on April 21 supporting optional color panels for ¥50,000 working out to about $600 in the US. The Android update is expected in late April Japanese users and hopefully around that time in other countries as well.
