Specs do not matter, user experience does! WP7 is so smooth with 1 core processor and beats Android/iPhone with 2 cores anytime. The only thing Android is faster at is the crashing :) 1 core is also not so power hungy as multiple cores processor -> better battery life! The UX on WP7 is great, once you get used to the OS. You can do almost all tasks faster then with iOS or Android. Just google/bing: "smoked by windows". AND Nokia L900 looks just amazing!!!

We'll see about the sales figures. All I know is I love mine so far and I do not miss the flaky piece of junk Android phone it replaced one bit. How strange that Apple and Microsoft seem to be the only companies that understand that most people want cell phones that work well out of the box and they don't see bloatware and UI skins as an advantage. It's a novel idea, actually caring more about the end user experience than pandering to OEM's and carriers, I think it's going to catch on. What the Android fan boys don't realize is the only reason a ton of Android phones have been sold is that they filled a huge gap left by Apple by offering the OS to anyone who wants to put any version of it on any piece of junk phone and layer as much bloat and trash on it as they want. Android users are made up of about 15-20% fanboys and people who like it, and a huge population of people who wound up with Android because it seemed like the only choice aside from an iPhone and who put up with it because they think they have no other options. That's about to change.

I Agree Mostly. The Widnows Phone 7 App Market would be OK if they would lower the prices. $2.99 for angry birds VS. $.99 on android and ios. thats insane! (But Microsoft was always a selfish money horner)

I'm not sure what's responsible for these crazy sick and outrageous overpriced apps?
Is the Split deal between developers different? They can't change that much for apps! I don;t care if it has XBOX integration it doesn't make it worth $2.99 vs. $.99 ... $1.99 would be ok but $2.99?

Also they need facebook to make them a native app! I'm serious they NEED it. The current one is a link to a webpage.

either way Nokia did great here. it's a fast slick device.

I have the EU version of the Lumia 800, but this one makes me wonder if I should have waited. My 800 feels great in the hand and is very responsive, scrolls nicely, never a hiccup. Lots of talk about the specs, but if it works well and is priced right, who cares what how many cores it has? Does anyone even know what that really means? I do not know how much torque my SUV has, but I know it can tow my boat. Are there other SUV's with greater HP and better torque? - sure, but not many that can do just about everything I want and at the price that I paid. Also people talk about the paultry 70,000 apps that MS has as if we all need 10 different fart apps on our phones. I have about 20 apps on my phone right now, weather, news feeds, stock info, social feeds, Xbox Live games, free turn by turn directions for just about every country (no data usage), Netflix, streaming music; how much more do you need?

yeah, people keep bashing the fact Nokia wp7 phones are a single core but you can do it when you have a mobile OS that can run on it. Lets see android do that now. My android is slow and runs on a dual core chip. If you don't want to spend the $100 now wait 6-12 months and it will be free. Android and iOS just throws flashy specs in the phone. The more android gets new versions the worse it gets. I've narrowed my new phone to one of these or a blackberry 10 phone.

It may not be a popular option but its a way better product than most give it credit for...I've held one in the metal...build quality is better than half of that list. If it wasn't for the lack of an SD card slot I would have one (reason why I wont go near an Iphone only to be charged an extra £100 for the next level of memory when I can get a 64Gb mem card for £25).

Have you actually held one in the metal?? This phone has far superior build quality to the plasticky S2, the WP7.5 OS cripser than any other that I've come across. Doesn't struggle even on one core, the only reason I didn't get one is because it lacks SD card slot. Yeah app market is still small...but how many pple use 250 000 android apps...have you seen some of the pointless apps on Google Play/Itunes?? The Lumia series may not be a popular option but its way better than its given credit for!

Didn't they say the same thing about the Lumia 800 in Europe? That it would only sell like 500,000 in the 2 months it was on the market or something like that? And they ended up selling a million.

If I was in the market for a sub $100 smartphone I can't imagine a scenario where I'd buy this over the iPhone 4 or the Galaxy SII. The app. selection on either of those is worlds better than the Lumia 900 and the Galaxy SII has superior hardware in every respect (the LTE Galaxy SII skyrocket is $99 on amazon and the regular SII is $79). I just don't get how this is supposed to compete.

Huh. Spec whores. Waste money on devices chasing specs with no significant improvements that make the devices worth it. I think it's more valuable to chase after what the device can do for you, not the mechanics of how it does it. My Samsung Focus out-performs my wife's iPhone 4 in almost every way that actually matters. Besides, there seems to be this insistence that every user (or potential user) has the $$ for, and is searching for, a device that beats all others in all significant categories. I've found that simply isn't the case....particularly if you are a first-time smartphone consumer. The Lumia is better than most other devices in most categories, equal with some and not as good as some. So, for the price, a consumer has to decide if it provides the best value.

I grew up and put away childish things like chasing after specs some time ago. I want devices that provide the best performance value for my hard-earned $$. I'm not willing to pay top dollar for something that only peforms marginally better than a much less expensive device. For me, the WP accomplishes that tasks I use heavily much quicker and in a much more intuitive way than other OSs.

AT&T has a pretty good selection of $99 smartphones, including the iPhone 4, the Galaxy SII, the Atrix II, the HTC Vivid, and the LG Nitro HD. WP7 is a nice OS, and the 900 looks like a good device, but there just isn't much there to impress potential buyers.

Bloggers right here have been saying this for weeks. The Lumia 900 ain't no flagship product.
Just smashing together two industry heavyweights does not produce creative, chic, hand held bling which the mobile phone market demands.
If anything Microsoft and Windows represent everything conservatively corporate which the personal gadget buyer will avoid like the plague !

lower resolution than top smartphones, not dual core and lesser app support. If they are going to compete against the top smartphones from Apple and various Android vendors they at least ought to compete on the specs they can control. I guess if I really wanted a Windows phone though this would be the one.
