American Horror Story: Jessica Lange won't be returning next season

American Horror Story has successfully brought the macabre to television viewers, something few series have been able to do successfully. The show is known for its storyline styles: each season is its own story, and brings with it many of the main actors from the previous season, giving them new identities and roles. Jessica Lange has been with the show since Season 1, having played four different characters, and now she has revealed that her role on AHS came to an end with Freak Show.

This, of course, isn't sad news for everyone. Some fans of the horror-centric show have criticized the lack of diversity between Lange's different characters over the last four seasons — while she is wonderful at playing the roles she is given, those roles have started to look too similar, and many fans have been requesting a change to shake up what is starting to feel stale.

That change will be given in the form of a new face. While Lange — who has undoubtedly been an important part of drawing fans to the series — is on her way out, the folks behind American Horror Story are bringing in someone new: Matt Bomer. He'll be joining Lady Gaga in the next season, titled Hotel, and though he remained quiet about what, exactly, his role in the show will be, he did say, "I can't confirm nor deny that there will be a romantic relationship [with Lady Gaga's character]."

Also joining American Horror Story in the next season will be Cheyenne Jackson, known for his role in Glee, but likewise we don't know what to expect from his character. The rest of the details about Hotel are still absent, but we'll certainly be hearing more about it in the near future.
