American Horror Story: Hotel -- Rabe returns as serial killer

Not much has been revealed about the upcoming fifth season of American Horror Story, though Lady Gaga has spoken about it more than once, including on her social accounts. We got our first hint of her role in the recent past via the season's first teaser trailer. Now more details have emerged about one of the returning cast members — Lily Rabe — and her upcoming role in the season. She'll be playing as Aileen Wuornos, a serial killer. The news was revealed by American Horror Story's chief Ryan Murphy.

This past Friday at the TCA Summer Press Tour, Murphy revealed that Lily Rabe will be playing as the well-known American serial killer Aileen Wuornos, who murdered seven men over a couple year span in Florida. It appears her role may be limited, however.

Jessica Lange won't be returning next season

Said Murphy:

We're doing a two-part, well, we always do a two-part Halloween episode, but our Halloween episode this year is called 'Devil's Night. I'm directing it because I love the script so much, when we finished it I said, 'I can't give this to anybody else.' Lily Rabe is coming to that episode. And she's playing Aileen Wuornos, which is really fun and bizarre. I don't want to give too much away but I will tell you that she's at the centerpiece of that, and that's who she's playing.

This is the same serial killer played by Charlize Theron in "Monster". How the role will fit into the larger Hotel story, and the extent of Rabe's presence in the season, wasn't detailed.
