Maybe apple had no idea the ipad would be used in a cockpit and therefore didn’t test it above 10,000ft??’

I am a private pilot who uses his Ipad as a supplement to the onboard navigation equipment. It is amazing how much it improve my situational awareness. Apps are being designed everyday for these devices which in my view will shortly surpass the capabilities of the avionics installed on most aircraft, including airliners. While not yet ideal, my little single-engine aircraft could be flown solely with the Ipad in case of of a complete electrical system failure. Not bad.

The company is filing for bankruptcy. They really need to review their spending… not buy ipads.

But airlines and our gov’t tell us that iPads interfere with airplanes’ avionics. How ironic.
