AMD has just introduced its newest Quad-Core AMD Opteron HE (Highly Efficient) processors. The new CPUs operate with far less power requirement at 55-watts compared to its predecessors that use 75-watts and 105 watts.

If you are building a 1U server or thin chassis workstation, this new and more energy efficient chip will definitely help keeping the machine cooler.

The new Quad-Core Opteron HE processors are clocked between 1.7Ghz and 1.9Ghz. It is available in 2300 series, 4300 series, and 8300 series. AMD updated its website to show the new chips pricing.
