Hmm my 8800 gave me driver crashes regularly.

My 6970 never has any crashes that require a driver reset.

This talk of bad AMD drivers is regurgitated fud from the 9600 days.
It’s a tired, old, and boring story from 10 years ago.

The Geforce 8800 GTX was my last nVidia card after it burned (like most 8800 did) I switched to Radeons again – less heating, less power hungry and good performance.
Good to see that AMD keeps an eye on power consumption while increasing performance.

Wow this thing is sweet, hopefully this will give AMD a nice boost in consumer confidence after that atrocious bulldozer failure. I really don’t want to see this company go down and thus giving Intel and NVidia the freedom to charge as much as they can get away with for their respective products.

Hardware Canucks did a review and have benchmarks with AMD 7970 vs GTX 580 3Gb version and 7970 blows away the 580 3gb version in every benchmark.

Perhaps your right but I mean it took nvidia a lot longer to properly enable sli in bf3 than it did for AMD.

The reason people complain about AMD drivers is that they usually take longer to come out with a “fix” for the latest games. Case in point: it took AMD almost three weeks to release working drivers that allows CF scaling for Skyrim

I agree,there awful.I can’t begin to tell you how many time’s my graphic card crashed due to a driver update,I never do it any more;it’s stable now.Having said that….AMD’s hardware is tip top.Nvidia don’t hold shit to it,maybe Battlefield 3 is superior on some Nvidia cards.

I’m running a HD 5970 1g and it plays all the latest games on max with little or no frame rate issues with the exception of battlefield 3 (25-20 frames per sec,on max), I really can’t complain too much,only when a new catalyst driver up date arrives that I must download because of a new game that I like.

Even if AMD and NVIDIA released a new range of video cards at exactly the same time and AMDs cards performed faster, used less power, produced less heat, were more quiet, and were shorter in length NVIDIA fanboys would still argue that the NVIDIA cards were somehow better than AMDs.

I wish there was a forum that was intended for people who like AMD video cards, NVIDIA video cards, AMD CPUs, and Intel CPUs. Then people could actually talk and discuss things and actually have real opinions and recommendations and also have real debates at a mature level of course. Fanboys always gets in the way and ruin everything. Also as a fanboy you just hurt yourself by limiting your self to a product from a particular company.

Mr poo their drivers aren’t atrocious like you say. They are almost on par with nvidia. Their drivers are good and even when they surpass nvidias drivers (not saying they ever will but hypothetically saying) people like you will still be in denial and argue nvidias drivers are still better even if the facts and proof are sitting infront of you. People have problems with AMD drivers yes and also the same goes for nvidias. I never had any problem with AMD drivers they are good.

Thank you for your well-thought-out reply, Mr Naples. I happen to build my own gaming systems and have used both NVIDIA and AMD cards in them and frankly, both card companies perform admirably. My challenge to you would be to think before you open your mouth and spew irrelevant drivel about NVIDIA vs. AMD. You gave neither any information nor data to back up your hastily written opinion. This thing looks like it’s going to transform and eat your pets! Which I guess won’t matter because I wouldn’t be able to feed them after buying that thing. J/K in all seriousness it is pricey, but if it performs and runs cool (i.e. hopefully lasting a long time) it would probably worth it. Certainly don’t need that kind of hardware to play the new Star Wars though.
