AMD netbook processor strategy revealed tomorrow

As promised, AMD are gathering the crowds for tomorrow's mobile netbook processor announcement.  First tipped last month, with CEO Dirk Meyer telling investors that the company "do have strategies together with our OEMs for pushing our solutions both down into smaller form factors and lower notebook price points" and that AMD would be demonstrating "pictorially" their intent for the segment.

Xavier from Notebooks.com has been invited, perhaps a lone reporter among the analysts at tomorrow's meeting, and will be live-blogging the whole event.  While the PR firms involved wouldn't disclose exactly the nature of AMD's announcement, it seems clear that the company will be looking to jump on board the surprisingly successful netbook train.

The second guess is which hardware partner will be the first to sign up to AMD's platform.  VIA have discovered how difficult it can be to partner with OEMs: despite multiple demonstrations which could be interpreted as the company's Nano chipset outpacing the Atom, it's the 1.6GHz Intel N270 which keeps getting included in new netbooks.
