AMD LogoIf you’re scouring the net looking for a cheap single-core CPU, your chances of finding one just got harder. AMD has put all of their single-core Athlon and Sempron processors on end-of-life status as of today. Fortunately, they are also dropping prices on their dual-core offerings.

AMD has gone ahead and cut the Athlon 64 X2 3800+ and 3600+ from their lineup as well. However, with their new round of price cuts that begin today, the X2 4200+ and 4000+ will take their spots at the $79 and $69 price brackets.

The biggest movers are the X2 5200+ which drops $40 to $129 and the 6000+ which will drop $60 down to $169. AMD is hoping to gain some ground on Intel before their competitor drops their prices on the 22nd of this month.
