AMD Dorado & Leo desktop platforms tipped for May 2010

AMD are reportedly planning two new desktop platforms which will see a May 2010 launch, at least that's the latest rumor out of motherboard manufacturers.  The AMD Dorado and Leo platforms will target the mainstream and high-end respectively, with each using ATI Radeon HD 5000 series video cards and processors from either the Athlon II or Phenom II ranges.

The AMD Dorado platform will pair Athlon II CPUs with an 880G northbridge and SB810 southbridge while the AMD Leo platform will step up to Phenom II CPUs – including support for the six-core Thuban processor – paired with either an 890FX or 890GX (RD890) northbridge and SB850 southbridge.  Unsurprisingly AMD have declined to comment.
