AMD CPU and HD 4570 GPU packed into Clevo budget laptops

AMD are talking up their latest collaboration with manufacturer Clevo, packing the chipmakers' Athlon 64 X2 processor and ATI Radeon HD 4570 graphics into what's described as "an optimal price".  While the targets of these new machines – unnamed by the AMD press release and seemingly yet to show up on Clevo's own site – are developing markets, we can't help but think that it's not just Brazil and Taiwan who would like "long battery life" and "exceptional video performance" with a budget price.

What we do know about the mysterious machine is that it's intended as a cost-effective – and more functional – alternative to a cheap netbook.  Based on AMD's M690G chipset, they have a full-sized keyboard, optical drive and webcam.

Price, model number and full specifications are still unknown, as is release date and whether the rest of us will ever get a chance to paw over the notebooks.  AMD have kicked off a new "channel blog" where they comment on the Clevo machines, but still manage to do so without telling us anything we'd actually like to know.
