Amazon Prime Instant Video: Bosch renewed for 2nd season

Amazon Studios just renewed their gritty L.A. detective series, Bosch, for a second season. Bosch debuted in 2014 as a pilot for Amazon Prime Instant Video and has found success with cord-cutters and binge-watchers alike. Bosch has over 31,000 5-star reviews and has become another draw for the streaming service as it looks for anything to set itself apart from its competitors. It appears that Amazon is following Netflix's successful lead by not only get exclusives to TV series like FX's spy drama The Americans. Amazon Studios wants to make a mark with its original content as well.

Some would say that the TV streaming market is nearing saturation with devices like the Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, or Chrome Cast, and streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, the new Playstation Vue, or Amazon Prime Video. Each competitor is searching to find its niche market with TV and movie offerings that set it apart from the competition.

Amazon Studios also created seven new pilots for 2015, like Cocked with Jason Lee (My Name Is Earl) and Sam Trammell (True Blood). Depending on the shows' critical reception and Amazon reviews, they could be picked up for full seasons.

Amazon already has a built-in market base for its media services. Between 30 and 40 million people have Amazon Prime accounts, but many of them are only utilizing the free shipping feature. If you already have an Amazon Prime account, why not mozy over to their instant video selection? It's built into the price of your Prime account, so you might as well use it. At first glance, Amazon's streaming offerings don't appear too special, but their original content might be something that could help it break away from the pack in the future.
