Amazon details its upcoming Fall 2015 original pilots lineup

Amazon has detailed its planned Fall 2015 pilot season, of which there will be half a dozen new pilots for shows that, hopefully, prove popular with Prime subscribers. The shows will be coming from a number of well regarded creators, including Shane Black, who has Iron Man 3 under his belt, among others, and Nicole Yorkin and Dawn Prestwich of The Killing. The shows will be debuting for subscribers located in the United States, UK, Germany, and Austria.

Though Netflix ushered in the world of high-quality original content, Amazon has arguably held its own with its own original shows. It recently scored five Primetime Emmy wins, further solidifying its position as a contender in the entertainment industry; it has seen particularly high remarks for its Transparent series.

The upcoming pilots are for the following shows: Edge, a series based on the book series by George G. Gilman; Good Girls Revolt, a show about girls working in a newsroom in 1969; Highston, a comedy that'll feature Shaquille O'Neal; One Mississippi, a dark comedy; Patriot, a political thriller; and, finally, "Z", a bio-series based on Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald's life.

Prime members will be able to watch the shows under Prime Video, which is home to many other movies and TV shows. Those without a Prime subscription have various options like renting or buying digital content. As an example, Amazon's "Transparent" series is free to watch with a Prime subscription, but costs $1.99 per standard definition episode without it.
