Amazon Dash Replenishment: first devices now available

Amazon has taken the wraps off its first round of available devices covered under the Amazon Dash Replenishment service, and they're comprised of printers, a blood glucose monitor, and a GE washer. Under the service, these items and eventually others like the will be able to order needed items when supplies run low, no involvement from the owner necessary (after setup, that is). More connected devices will offer the feature soon.

The Amazon Dash Replenishment service allows connected devices — after they're setup and assuming they're compatible — to automatically order more supplies as they run low. For example, if you have one of the compatible Brother printers that are now available, it will automatically order more ink from Amazon when the existing supply is low. The same goes for the new GE washer and the Gmate SMART blood glucose monitor.

In addition to announcing the availability of those new items, Amazon has also announced that some new brands and devices have joined the Dash Replenishment program; this includes Purell with its soap and hand sanitizer, and the Whirlpool Smart Dishwasher.

This replenishment program is part of the wider Amazon Dash service, which includes buttons for specific products. With those, a user configures them with their Amazon account, then sticks them to a convenient surface for use later on. When pressed, the button — which is connected to wifi — will order more of the product, which will be shipped to the owner's specified address.
