How about using that money it’s going to cost to manufacture a phone with such a sophisticated airbag/parachute/rocket system (not to mention unnecessary bulk) to simply use better materials and make a phone that doesn’t blow up on impact from a pathetic 5 foot fall?

so in other news the topic of fake online profiles to fake popular voicing online is HOT! there is actually a load of fake profiles used by adversary companies to curve popular belief. meaning: all of u saying this is ridiculous could actually be one guy posing as many different people to discredit a great idea.

The cost of adding airbag would exceed cost of smartphone.
Why not just add a safety strap or epoxy the phone to your hand.
Maybe make a smartphone that deploys a parachute and landing legs.
Just as valid an idea and just as impractical.
This is the type of Patent applications that clog up the patent office,

Wow. that is one of the worst ideas to be patented. I remember playing a game called “The Inventors” when I was a kid. All the inventions in that game were real…. and ridiculous. (Parachute Hat?) This would fit right in with that game. And what is wrong with a patenting system that allows such broad patents? They pretty much covered every which way to detect a drop and protect from it. What a stupid system. They might as well have added “pillows” and “marshmallows” to the list. Or use ants on wheels to power the system.

A lot of phones (LG optimus s a good example) will eject the battery upon dropping.. it absorbs a huge amount of the impact.

IPhone.. ehh.. not so much. It ejects a lot of glass fragments.. followed by a stream of tears..
