Amazon announces Kindle DX with global wireless service

The Amazon Kindle was one of the hottest readers in the past holiday season. The device is selling well by all accounts and Amazon keeps improving the device. Today Amazon has announced that it is now offering the Kindle DX with global wireless service for $489.

The new global version will ship on January 19. Users can now download all the books, magazines, blogs and other documents they want with the integrated wireless connectivity from anywhere in the world. Other than the wireless connectivity good around the globe, the device is just like the DX unveiled last May.

It offers an auto rotation screen measuring 9.7-inches with 16 shades of gray. The device has an integrated PDF reader, 3.3GB of memory, and bookmark support. The device is a bit more than 1/3 of an inch thick. The new global version will replace the version with wireless only in the US.
