I have to admit I'm a complete newbie to most of this, I just woke up this morning totally fed up with the clumsiness and weight of my current phone-camera-laptop-paper-pad system of doing things and went in search of multi-tasking capacity. Boy, did I find it! What a nifty looking device.

A couple of questions: Is the OS compatible with windows and windows based programming? How is the Smartbook on multitasking? I don't think my memory needs are enormous, but I will often have a video running in the background while I do wordprocessing or surf. From what I get here, the capacity of the standalone mobile is identical, you simply go to a bigger screen, and then a bigger screen and a bigger keyboard as you add back the periperal parts of the device. So how functional is the little widget, honestly? (oh yes, does it have a camera?)

Nice concept. Only one CPU that is "shared" with everything, that's clever. You don't lose any perf or usability because you don't use a phone at the same time as a tablet or a netbook, and you save the cost of three full systems. Above all, it's all open source: already pre-ordered, can't wait to hack!

Normally, the phone would be in your pocket serving as a normal mobile.

You would dock the phone into the tablet only when you want to do some browsing.

I think they only have the processing power in the phone. The tablet is only a jacket with a bigger screen and extra battery.

Also, the keyboard stand is also only a jacket with some extra battery and a keyboard.

I believe this is brilliant, only the hardware shouldbe stronger. I wouldn't settle for anything less than a dual-cortex-a9 (tegra2, omap4...etc).

It is a very good concept, but the implemented hardware seems weak to me. Single core Cortex-A8 may have been somewhat acceptable when they came out with the original Touch Book but it is not enough now.

The Cortex-A8 with 256Mb RAM should be in the phone and an other dual-cortex A9 + other 512Mb RAM in the tablet part. All should work together as a 3-core machine with 768Mb RAM when the phone is inserted into the tablet. Now that would make me run screaming to the pre-order page. I would pay 600USD for a machine+phone like this.

I concur with the need for PixelQi and 10", although 9" is mostly acceptable (only it makes the offer immediately inferior compared to the other higher-end tablets - according my requirements ofcourse)

Would be nice to know about the battery life of each component used separately and together.

Hm, I think they overdid it. Storing the tablet in the netbook was good but as someone who uses a phone primarily to call people and get called, why would I store it with my tablet?

I told them more than a year ago(and they thanked me for the suggestion..), that they should have made a 10" device and integrate the PixelQi screen. The lack of keyboard and interfaces is a serious problem for tablets in professional area.

When traveling, the tablet always should be in a separate bag to prevent scratches on the screen. And even if you take a small USB keyboard with you and put the tablet on a stand, it just looks darn silly to work like this and you need several additional adapters and mass storage to replace a netbook/notebook.

All this is solved by their keyboard adapter. I want it for my future Adam.
