I like that they would offer this to customers, but in a gaming laptop that has a discrete video card, ivy bridge might not be an "upgrade" at all because the concentrated heat envelope makes it more difficult to overclock, right?

I don't know about everyone else, but if I had just ordered one I would probably opt for a discount and continue with the sandy bridge proc I actually ordered.

Dell does not offer chat support for Alienware. You first have to call and then request chat. If the phone agent feels like it, they will let you.

This is why Dell (who incidentally, bought Alienware) introduced support via chat. No language barriers, and you can do whatever while you wait for the tech to respond instead of listening to hold music. I can't remember the last time I had to actually call Dell support on the phone.

Chat's made support much more painless, that's for sure, but I agree that phone support could use some work.

It is nice to see a company that values its customers like this, but their support still has a large amount of room for improvement. When you buy Alienware, you pay top notch pricing for a top notch product, but quality control, as well as the phone support is horrible.
