Alereon NoWire Laptop to HDTV Extender Kit unveiled at CES

I bet here are lots of you out there like me who have often wished they could peruse those YouTube videos or shows from Hulu on the big screen in the living room rather than on a smaller laptop or desktop computer screen. Alereon has announced a new device at CES that will let you do that without needing wires called the Alereon Laptop to HDTV Extender.

The device uses UWB connectivity to stream video from a 2-inch USB dongle to the TV via an HDMI adapter. The kit supports Windows 7, Vista, XP, and Mac computers. The entire system promises to be up and running on only 5 minutes.

Supported resolution for the device is up to 1680 x 1050 and it can stream 720p HD video up to 30 feet away. The chipset inside the device supports Band Groups 1, 3 and 6 making it capable of operating worldwide. The device will ship to OEMs in Q1 2010.
