Worth Reading?

It’s no surprise that AppleInsider, being a blog about Apple, have unboxing photos of the new AirPort Extreme.  It’s no surprise (but it’s pleasant) that their shots are well-framed and clear.  What is a surprise is how uninspiring the design of the WiFi ‘n’ router is.  Perhaps I’m still spoilt by the sexiness of previous Apple hardware, perhaps I’m expecting too much from what essential boils down to some networking tech, but it kinda looks like a slab of ice-cream.

Most interesting, then, is the fact that they needn’t have pre-ordered it - all the had to do was wander into the nearest Apple store and grab one off the shelf.  Doesn’t seem too encouraging to those people who give the company their “x-thousand pre-orders already!” boast headlines.  Anyway, I’m sure hearing about how fabulous it is in the eventual review will again perk my interest.
