This is what happens when a content farm gobbles up a PR feed and vomits unthinking, unresearched moronitude on the web. Well done!

Even the article's author didn't read the release did they, that's what "Moon tires of the past were still just rubber, rubber that didn’t exactly hold up in heat, cold, and solar radiation" in the article suggests, no?

Surely a tech site wouldn't be so uninformed as to write something this dumb:

"Rockin! How long until these and other airless tire concepts are a reality here on Earth?"

You would have thought a supposed authority on tech and gadgetry would have known about Michelin's Tweel. One would have thought that a writer for SlashGear would know how to use Google at least. Hint; "Airless tyre". Simples!!

Give me 1 example of a lunar vehicle that had rubber tires!

You didn't get past the first line in the article did you?

"It is designed to carry much heavier vehicles over much greater distances than the wire mesh tire (which Goodyear also contributed to) that was previously used on the Apollo Lunar Roving Vehicle (LRV)"

Sorry to disappoint, but this was invented for the Apollo missions in 1971 and 1972, used on the lunar rover. Go look at pictures on wiki and you can clearly see the springs in the tires of the lunar rovers and see light passing through them. Ancient history.
