Im thinking they will do what they did with the Macbook line and just get rid of the 13 and 15 inch mbp and make them macbook air

I couldn’t care less about an optical drive, though I can see how some might…I wonder why they would make the MBP like the Air, does that signify the end of the Air?

DVD drives are becoming increasingly outdated and as Apple always focuses on new technology it is more than obvious that no more DVD drives will be included in any of its next generation computers and for a good reason

I’m anxiously awaiting to see the specs of the redesigned MacBook Pro. My 6 year old MBP can no longer handle (efficiently) the demands of today’s media files in the likes of CS5. If they’re going to solder their memory like they are on the current MacBook Air, I’m going to immediately buy this generation’s MBP then upgrade the memory to my pleasing. Also, if you decide the optical drive is no longer your thing, you can replace it with OWC’s data doubler.

YOUR SAYING NO DVD DRIVE AND THAT YOU THINK APPLE WANT YOU TO DOWNLOAD FROM THME ITUNES OR SOMETHING.
WELL I HAD AN MACBOOK PRO FOR FOUR YEARS AND I LOVE IT, AND IT HAS DVD AND CD DRIVE BUT GUES WHAT I NEVER USE IT, BEC I DON’T BUY DVD OR CD JUST DOWNLOAD THEM, I FIGURE I DON’T NEED IT, ANYTHING YOU NEED FIND A WAY TO DOWNLOAD IT.
I ALSO HAVE IPHONE, AND I HAD BLACKBERYY, WELL BLACKBERRY SUCKS AND I LOVE MY IPHONE,
AND I ALSO GOT IPAD AND APPLE TV LOVE IT

No DVD drive, of course Apple want you to just download everything from them. One question that I would like to know is, if the new Macbook Pro is going to be like the Macbook Air does that mean that the Memory will be SOLDERED to the motherboard and not user upgradable ? Good old Apple… no need to upgrade memory you can just upgrade your machine for another thousand bucks.

Apple would be happy to make components such as the super drive and network port obsolete as they maximize profits in doing this knowing full well that the saving will not be passed to the consumer. Good old Apple providing the consumer with a limited product with additional costs. Suppose someone has to pay for all those court claims / patents etc.

Apple: You’ll see why 2012 won’t be like 2012

That’s not what I wanted to hear. I wanted a 15″ mbp with ivy bridge processor. I don’t like the slim design, and need an optical drive. I know I could get an external one, but that’s a pain. So now, I’d have to get a 17″ which is far more expensive! Come on apple! WTF!!!
