Gaming on an iOS device (except maybe the iPad) is like trying to play a postage stamp with gorilla fingers in boxing gloves. It blows big time & I bought an I device to see exactly what all the fuss was about and to be honest I still don't see what is supposed to make it great.. maybe it's because it's shiny ;-)

I just got the phone and love it. Another thing you can do is put emulators on it. I was able to get half of my playstation games working on my phone. They work great. The touch pads are accurate and work wonderfully. Not every game uses them as well as they could. Battle Bears 1 is so far the best game to use it. Modern Combat does it horribly and is hardly playable. Wifi telephone and 3G are all weaker than other verizon devises in the same room. It's antenna are poor, but it still works. I am a gamer and am loving the phone.

I'd like to have a review on Minecraft pocket edition. Minecraft is fun, and I'm liking the idea of a portable Minecraft. The reviews on the Xperia PLAY are (mostly) good, so maybe I'll try it out.

Great article! I was just looking for fair Xperia Play game reviews, and feedback from people who are really using Xperia Play, not just first impressions posts. Here check out also my favorite games on the Play: AirAttack HD, Rainbow Six HD, Dungeon Defenders Second Wave, Bruce Lee, Crash Bandicoot, and last but not least a very addictive simple game called Claustrum. It turns out that many puzzle and arcade games from Android are working well with the game buttons, not just those officiallly optimized. I still play occasionally touch games like Angry Birds, but with this phone I have much more choice of great games. ;-)

I hate to say it but games are boring on an iphone with their small screen. I don't have an iphone but i tried a friend's iphone and after using it, i'm very unimpressed. Even with the dated droid X i have right now, it blows away the iphone in terms of performance and the overall feel of the phone. However, no touch screen phone is better than the physical control that comes with the experia play. It will definitely be on my "must have" list when my current contract runs out.

I used this device for a while, but it still doesn't offer the same level of gameplay as first person shooters/other games in the iOS marketplace. I'm not being a fanboy or anything, but games like Archetype and Rage HD are the games that should be on this platform. I guess the controller is great and all, but Apple developers have really figured out how to use the touch screen with gaming controls. The game Archetype is the slickest first person shooter on the market. It has online gameplay and everything, and the controls are fantastic. It beats out any game on the Xperia Play by a large margin in terms of graphics and gameplay. All in all, I don't think this is a device worth having, especially with the lackluster support and overall lackluster games (compared to the iPhone). Gmaes like Inifinity Blade, Archetype, and Rage HD are the real games worth having.
