Soft home, back and menu buttons are, in my experience, a PITA and make working with some fullscreen apps (eg Aldiko e-book reader) a real problem.

Much less interested than I was when I thought the top edge buttons were actually useful.

For that, you have to adhere to a LOT of rules and those would make the product expensive (GPS, built-in 3G, just to mention two of the most expensive)

However you can always download applications (APKs) and install it on the machine and there are more than one independent markets (e.g. AndroLib) you can use without any Google restrictions.

So I wouldn’t worry too much about the Google Market.
