Flash is just a horrible idea on mobile devices. apart from the resource hungry part and the fact that you NEED to have processor power and ram. You also need to consider that other web programming languages can suffice the need to stream multimedia and other content. HTML5, php, CGI, phython, ruby on rails, and ajax (I hate that last one but I'll consider it ;p ) can all be used either alone or in combination to make things like netflix, icloud (or google music if your on android), and a lot of games mostly work much faster, keep their "DRM" B.S. and even enable their services and or applications to run on webkit enabled devices. Why these languages? because they are freaking stable, customizable, FOSS, fast and can even save you money when you need to buy a server. When companies decide to use their own proprietary languages, such as flash, instead of the industry acknowledged languages of the web you are really making things really difficult for people. Now because your application XXX NEEDS to use some dumb DRM that you don't want cracked (even if you use flash it can be cracked mind you; most things man makes can be broken into) and WANTS some animation (which you can do with HTML5, ajax and javascript) then you are FORCING me the users to purchase more powerful mobile devices that would other wise be useless to me. The only reason why a company would even want to use flash on any device (yes even desktops/laptops) is because they either think that ONLY flash has the ability to make their app have animations or because they want to have a FALSE sense of security assurance that their content will not be stolen and reproduced by others. Hence why I don't install flash unless I NEED to and I HAVE the ability. my laptop needs to have flash because of my school and that the only place/site where I even use flash. While my two android devices and my ipod touch don't need flash, becuase if I were to use flash on my carrier to play a flash game online or to watch netflix.... I would have to wait forever for the movie to load (yes I have metropcs).
P.S. if you were to use HTML5 or one of the languages above you can also drastically improve the battery life when streaming content.

Flash works perfectly on my HTC EVO. Kongregate games work perfectly, websites work as they should. I haven't experienced the any of the issues that so many complain about. Not on my Android Phone, my Windows desktop, my Windows 2003 server, my iMac, either one of my Windows Laptops, or my Netbook. Not one instability, or crash. Flash always loads and plays pretty much as I expect. I just can't help but wonder wonder what kind of obsolete hardware is involved in this discussion.

Are you series? People are still paying for Coldfusion sites! Of course they are. Let me guess, the last time you used ColdFusion was version 5 or less. You still think it is only a tag based language like the old days? Do you even realize that CF can be written just as any other OO programming language? Are you even aware that it fully integrates with the modern .NET platform and that when even writing complexed functionality, you can still deploy it approx 30% faster then most other web based languages? Do you know that really you are working with Java now when coding CF? Are you aware it has one of the largest built in class libraries and function sets? Honestly I was digging your post right up until you basically said CF sucks, then it lost all credability. I think you need to educate yourself with regards to modern day CF before providing an opinion. I fluently write PHP, ASP, CF and .NET and CF is an incrediblity powerful and scalable platform.

Is this a joke? Does Adobe really expect us to fork over even more money to code in Flash? After all, there are still people paying for Cold Fusion sites.
