Acer TimelineX 3820T, 4820T, and 5820T - they're back

Remember last week when we talked about those new Acer TimelineX notebooks and then they were pulled because someone hit the go button too soon? Well (let me summon my best Poltergeist voice) they're baaack. Since the official announcement comes from Acer this time, the machines should stay around long enough for you to give them the stink eye.

Revealed early or not, the specs we spied last week are accurate. The 1830T and 3820T are 13.3-inch units, the 4820T is a 14-inch unit, and the 5820T is a 15.6-inch machine. The 1830T gets either Centrino or Core 2 solo CPUs while the other units get options for Core i3, i5, and i7 chips.

Graphics are via various ATI mobile GPUs, and WiFi, optional 3G, and Bluetooth are offered. The big deal in these machines is the battery life. Acer claims that the LED backlit screens combined with Intel Display Power Savings guarantees a 30% reduction in power use with the same image quality. The rigs also use power sipping HDDs and have a revised cooling system with low power fans. All that power savings adds up to the latest Intel CPUs with at least 8 hours of battery life. Last week Acer claimed 12 hours for the 3820T, 4820T, and 5820T machines with the 1830 getting the 8-hour stamp. Acer is still mum on pricing and a launch date.
