Acer goes back to school with Windows 10 PCs

Expect that the next batch of PCs, laptops, tablets, and even smartphones will all be flaunting Windows 10 in their headlines. Just in time for preparing for school, Acer has announced new devices, both now available and coming in a few weeks, all touting Windows 10. Of course, these laptops, convertibles, and all-in-one PCs aren't just for students but also ideal for home businesses and even gamers. Starting with the E Series notebooks all the way up to the R convertibles and Z AIO, Acer has a variety of Windows 10 machines to choose from to fit your needs.

The Acer E Series notebooks come in 15.6 and 17.3 inch display options, all running Intel Core i5 or i3 processors. At least one configuration even throws in an NVIDIA 940M graphics chip with 4 GB of DDR3 VRAM, perfect for on the go gaming or graphics-heavy workloads. The E Series is available now for pre-order and comes with Windows 10 pre-installed.

Later in August, Acer will also launch other Windows 10 PCs that come in a variety of form factors. The Switch 10 E 2-in-1, for example, supports four usage modes of laptop, tablet, tent, and display. The 13.3-inch R 13 Series convertible expands that number to six, namely, laptop, tablet, display, tent, ezel, and stand, thanks to Acer's Ezel Aero Hinge. The smaller 11.6-inch R 11 Convertibles, on the other hand, support only the basic four but make up for it with a smaller, more portable size. And the behemoth of them all is the 23.8-inch Full HD Aspire Z3 All-in-One desktop.

Acer is also introducing a new category called its Aspire One Cloudbooks. These affordable 11-inch laptops, with prices starting at $169, are meant to compete with Google's Chromebooks, except with Windows 10 installed instead.

There are just Acer's new Windows 10 lineup. The OEM assures its customers that all of its Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 products can avail of the free Windows 10 update. In addition, the Acer Liquid M220 Windows Phone that it unveiled last March is also eligible for the Windows 10 mobile upgrade, which it confirms to happen sometime in Fall.
