Just updated to 4.03 on my a100. There is no face unlock.

Android 4.0 just happened for me in the UK via Over the Air system update (4.0.3,Build Version Acer_AV01_A100_1.014.00_WW_GEN1)

Acer are not connecting to customers who own A501 because of lack of public information and timeliness of upgrades, in my view this is the weakness that android has when such a high dependancy has been placed on the customer to get os support from the hardware manufacturer or carrier.
