Acer AspireRevo upgrade potential looks good

Yesterday's review of the Acer AspireRevo nettop might have cast some doubt over its Atom processor while simultaneously praising NVIDIA's Ion GPU chipset, but it didn't really touch on upgrade potential.  Small-form-factor (SFF) computers are usually no-go areas when it comes to most modifications, but bit-tech have discovered there's a surprising amount of room inside the AspireRevo's casing.

The basic AspireRevo has an Atom 230 processor, 1GB of RAM and an 80GB hard-drive, along with WiFi b/g and eSATA, HDMI, VGA and multiple USB 2.0 ports.  If more storage is your concern, the photo above shows that pretty much any 2.5-inch hard-drive (or SSD) should play nicely; similarly, you can slot in up to a 4GB stick of SO-DIMM DDR2 memory.

WiFi is courtesy of a mini PCI-Express slot, and so you could switch it out for a draft-n card with little trouble.  Alternatively, if you're willing to make do with ethernet only, you could slot in a TV tuner card or anything else your modding mood fancies.

The Acer AspireRevo is already listed as in-stock at T-Online, priced at €299 ($395) for the 2GB/160GB model.  Amazon Germany show it as expected in 1 to 3 weeks, priced at €313.96 ($415).
